Just as wonderful as Snowflower and the Secret Fan. This book is a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows. I enjoy historical fiction as I am a history major and teach World History. This book was a wonderful source to quote to show students the status of women not only in China but throughout history. I especially liked the information about the ghost bride ritual. In fact, I just recently saw this same information used in, I believe, the latest episode of the tv series, Castle.

LOVED this book. Lisa See is a captivating author. This book took some time to grow on me, whereas with Snowflower and the SecretFan I was immediately taken in. But as I read more and more, I could no longer part with the book until I had finished.
L.See should go down in history as a classic writer. Her writing style is deep and developed!
This should be a must read for anyone with good taste!!
