V.E. Schwab gehört zu meinen Lieblingsautoren und so wusste ich, dass ich dieses Buch von ihr auf jeden Fall lesen muss. Der Plot ist typisch V.E. Schwab speziell und hat übersinnliche Elemente, die sich wunderbar in unsere Realität einfügen. Mit Addie LaRue hat sie eine Figur erschaffen, die authentisch die Zeitlosigkeit präsentiert. Ihre Melancholie hat mich wirklich berührt und oft zum Nachdenken gebracht.

This book started out with a bang -- I was completely hooked from the start, devouring the pages quickly and feeling so excited to have found something so compulsively readable. And then... it kept going... and going... and I can't pinpoint exactly where in the novel I began to roll my eyes, but by the last 75 pages my torrid love affair had become quite a stale, dull little fling. The premise of this book was imaginative. The beginning held out hope but after that I just wanted to get through it. I'll remember this one but it just didn't work for me. Deals with the devil and curses just aren't my thing.
