I'm a fan of historical fiction/time-travel/magic stories, so this seemed like a no-brainer to read. (And it reminded me of the opposite fate of a movie I really enjoyed, The Age of Adaline). Like other reviewers have mentioned, some of the beginning was a bit slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it (I had a hard time putting it down!). The second half of the book, especially the end, was more engaging and the end left me wanting a sequel.

Don't pray to the Old Gods after dark. A warning that Addie didn't heed (I don't think that's a spoiler), and set herself on a path she hadn't anticipated. This book took a little while to get going, then became really interesting, and finished a little disappointingly, I thought. But the bit in the middle is worth reading it for, and what an interesting premise to play with- Addie learns creative ways around her dilemma.

Outside of old favorite series, this might be the best book I've read this year. Absolutely amazing, intriguing storyline and fascinating characters. It's hard to comment on without giving anything away so I'll just say it was definitely a favorite.
