Oh this is fun, interesting, and unique! Read it quickly because it's just that good! There's a lot to take in and I'm still processing my thoughts on this. It is not my usual genre (fantasy) and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. And it's nice that it's LGBTQ.
I'd call it fantasy, women centered, relationship and romance, without being sappy, and maybe even sci-fi. I'll write more later, if remember, and it doesn't matter.... Enjoy! ...more

In a small village in France in the 1700s, Addie makes a deal in which she lives forever, but in return, she is forgotten by everyone she meets. 300 years later, she walks into a bookstore in New York City and for the first time since the deal was made, a man remembers her. The story follow from there, alternating between present day and Addie's life up until that point.

I really enjoyed this! Emotional, unlike anything else I’ve read in terms of the plot, and artful. Really enjoyed the historical fiction elements also. A few issues: I think this was a 400+ page book that could have been told perfectly in 300 pages—absolutely no reason for so many of those long, overdone chapters. The writing was a little too obsessed with itself for my taste, a little too quaint and precious, but! I learned to kind of lean into this writer’s way and truly I was so engaged in wh

Mostly, I couldn't put this one down! As everyone else has gushed: the characters, writing, plot, and atmosphere are all captivating. Still, during the last 1/3rd of the book, it began to feel a bit long. Perhaps I'm spoiled by all the short stories I've been reading lately, but it seemed that 50 pages could have been cut out and it would have still been wonderful. The chapters are all super short, mostly 2-5ish pages each, and while that does make convenient reading since one can easily pick it

When I started this book I was worried it would pale in comparison to Pete Hamil’s Forever, one of my top 10 favorite books. It seemed to take on a similar premise but focus on sex and days instead of the changes in the world throughout the course of time.
As the story developed, it became clear that the books were different and I could stop comparing the two. This book is beautiful and I was able to separate the books in my mind. I usually wait a while before I add things to my all time favorite ...more
