A prequel for Nick from the Great Gatsby written by a proven Southern talent? I loved the beginning as it focused on the real horrors of warfare and what it does to the people who are conscripted (through a variety of circumstances) to participate in it: from the trench warfare to the destruction of land and it’s purpose to the countless women who suffered a different form of pain and loss.
