The milieu is great, it helped up the stakes; however, a lot of Ts were not crossed and Is not dotted at the end. At least it was a teenage romance book that I could finish.
This gentle, emotional historical fiction / coming of age / romance novel lives up to the hype.
I was so worried for Lily and her family in the beginning!! Would her father be deported? Would Lily be arrested and brutally beaten by police? Would she be bullied and ostracized in school?
