I'm always on the lookout for mysteries from other countries, and this Polish historical debut looked right up my alley. It's set in fin-de-siecle Krakow, which at the time was a bit of a second or third tier city of the Austro-Hungarian empire. The story revolves around a home for the elderly, run by nuns -- where a series of disappearances and deaths unspool over the course of the book.
