This wasn’t one of Macintyre’s better efforts. There was an inherent paradox in his telling of how Ursula’s (and the use of the first name is telling) spy craft was affected by her being a woman, when Macintyre himself in. her early years focused almost entirely on her amours and sequence of lovers. This was a very accessible work of non-fiction. I found it very easy to read and I was quickly caught up in Ursula/Sonya's fascinating story. In fact, I eagerly read the whole book in three days as I was so gripped by the story.
