Much of this book was 5-stars for me except is was a bit too long with lengthy sections describing the Torah, which I finally started skipping. Mendelsohn has a gift for pinpointing details that perfectly describe the human experience and as you read them you realize he's touched on feelings you understand perfectly but might not be able to put into words. Of course I understand the horror of the Holocaust, but the more the author dug into the lives of these specific individuals, bringing it dow
