WAY TOO BORING not bothering to finish it.
4 discs into this one and I'm bored stiff. As one review on Amazon said it "begs for a book club to discuss it." Not any book club I'd like!!! It's a huge yawn. If something else comes in for me at the library on cd I'm returning this loser of a book. ...more

Waldman's definitely aiming for the Oprah's-Book-Club market with her "family copes with tragedy" plotline, but it's surprisingly sensitive and well-done in a way that's not saccharine. She works in some really beautiful turns of phrase - I particularly enjoy her description of one hard-driving character's assessment of more loosey-goosey folks as having "cancer of the life."
