This interesting book is told from the alternating perspectives of the three Bright daughters and their mother as they and their father move from small Quaker Town to sprawling Philadelphia.
They move in with their father’s uncle who has a mortuary attached to the house. They worried it might seem creepy to live so near to dead bodies, but it is actually healing and rewards to give them a good final departure from this life.

I loved the brief and alternating chapters of the females in the family. It was well thought out and engaging. You relate and empathize with the troubles and joys of each character, no matter their age. It is the first time I heard of the major flu epidemic that swept the through the world and took so many victims in the earlier part of the 20th century... as if WWI wasn’t enough! Now with our own flu epidemic it was extremely topical. I look forward to more book by this author!! 4.5 Stars!

As bright as Heaven is historical fiction taking place during WWI and during the outbreak of the Spanish flu. It was written before COVID and it's super interesting to see the parallels between the Spanish flu and Covid. I really liked the four narrators and thought this was a good book.
