Murders right and left, nephews involved in dubious activities and a major break in her romantic life is just another novel in the ongoing story of Deborah Knott, Colleton, County, North Carolina judge. A carnival comes to town and soon there are two murders and Deborah also finds a long lost relative. What else can happen---well a real surprise! Maron gets her POV problems (mostly) under control in this one, and the issues of family and responsibility in the plot overrode any of the lingering POV problems. Among my favorites of the Deborah Knott novels.
