What a joy it was to read this book! I literally could not put it down and just looked forward to reading it. The characters of jordan, Annalise, Nina, Ian, and Tony were so well drawn and their dialog was written so well. I loved all their interactions. The author also used italics when she wanted to show what they were thinking in situations and I thought that was interesting and different

The book has three narrators. Nina Markova is a pilot in Russia during WWII who ends up being the only person known to have survived The Huntress, a Nazi who also murdered several children. Ian Graham was a war correspondent and now that the war is over he spends his time hunting Nazi's, he's especially interested in the Huntress because she murdered his brother. Jordan McBride lives in Boston with her widowed father. When her father becomes engaged to Annelise, who also has a young daughter Rut ...more

4.5 This is a well researched beautiful novel. I liked the characters and the plot. What I didn’t like so much is the way the lengthy story is told with three POV, different timelines and too much hyphenation and use of italics that I believe slow the flow of reading. I liked Tony’s flirtatious and easy going charm. Ian’s sense of duty and ju ...more

Another great WW2 story by Kate Quinn. Absolutely loved Nina, the hard as nails Russian pilot, who grew up influenced by an extremely severe father and the harsh conditions of Lake Baikal in Siberia. Wonderful characters throughout, well written historical fiction, great resolution. Enjoyed getting lost in many internet rabbit holes, wanting to know more of the history and setting.
