I find Gabriel Allon to be one of the most interesting, multi-dimensional characters in contemporary literature and Silva's writing to be deep, thoughtful, compassionate and poetic. In Prince of Fire we find Allon in a bad situation, his cover as an art restorer is blown and he has to abandon the work that he loves in Venice. I read this Sept 2007 and gave it 4 stars. But I read it again and it is definitely my least favorite of the 9 Gabriel Allon books. Mostly dealing with the Jewish Palestinian problems, it reinforces how the issues between these two groups will never be resolved. Each group continues to act in retribution to attacks which then also have to be avenged. Very sad. Book #5 in the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva. Gabriel, the ex- Isaeli spy turned art restorer is off on another mission. No art restoration in this novel but yet another fast paced story. Gabriel is trying to prevent a terrorist attack in a major European city and eliminating an associate of Yassir Arafat.
