This book was just fabulous. I laughed out loud (and I never do that). I have to give it five stars just for that.
At first, I wasn't sure what I thought, mostly because I was confused and expected a different book. After a few chapters, I settled in. Maybe the best way to introduce this book is to say: this is The Odd Couple with two elderly widows in South Africa, and both women are incredibly irascible. That was a fun read. Sort of. It's been a month and what sticks with me is the topography of the two houses, the personalities of the two protagonists (both women over 60, hooray) and their (view spoiler) .

More like, meh, 2 1/2 stars. It kept me reading but not really sure why. The two women weren't at all likeable until almost the end.
