This book was just fabulous. I laughed out loud (and I never do that). I have to give it five stars just for that.
At first, I wasn't sure what I thought, mostly because I was confused and expected a different book. After a few chapters, I settled in. Maybe the best way to introduce this book is to say: this is The Odd Couple with two elderly widows in South Africa, and both women are incredibly irascible. That was a fun read. Sort of. It's been a month and what sticks with me is the topography of the two houses, the personalities of the two protagonists (both women over 60, hooray) and their (view spoiler).

More like, meh, 2 1/2 stars. It kept me reading but not really sure why. The two women weren't at all likeable until almost the end.
