This started like a dystopian and queer weird’n’wonderful SF, set in a post-climate apocalypse in the Dominican Republic. The it morphs into a picaresque tale with voodoo elements, time travel and a host of colourful strange characters. I didn’t really warm to any of the characters and got lost in the back and forth of the time lines. Ultimately, I didn’t see the point and didn’t find a heart to the story.

The prose style is post-modern punk; reminded me of Kathy Lette. The sentences are longish
