I don't know how to describe this read. How do I say I didn't feel like I learned anything without sounding horrible? It was repetitive having read a couple of other books by her, and I wasn't impressed by the language as I have been in the past. It got better in the last half and it helped when she shifted her lens to society rather than herself.

This is an amazing, perfect, totally real, honest, unpretentious and gripping memoir about so many things: trauma, femaleness, identity, relationships, sexuality, sexual abuse, doing damage, undoing damage, protecting oneself, disordered eating, hungering--the list goes on. Roxane Gay is one of my absolute favorite contemporary authors because of her unique voice and perspective, but also because of her willingness to be honest and real and write about things that are both beautiful and ugly and
