This is a difficult book to review without giving too much away. It wasn't what I expected from the blurb, but is much more. The writing struck me as rather quaint at first, but it suits the setting of the big old house and grounds where the story unfolds. This is a very clever page-turner. It's a crime mystery in the style of Agatha Christie: country house, intrigue, cast of characters all of whom are suspect for a time until exonerated -- or are they? And there's a twist. Or: several twists. They just keep coming, so twisty and hot on one another's heels that I had to keep my wits about me.
