Love the setting, but I'm abandoning this about halfway. Sooo repetitive and heavy-handed. I realized I actually don't care what mystery it's building to, so this will be a DNF for me.

A dark exploration of obsession and gaslighting. I could literally feel the entrapment and anger of the victim in this book. I was particularly drawn to the book's commentary about nobody believing women even when (or especially when) they're right. The narrative was disorienting and tragic, though it wasn't nearly as twisty as I thought it'd be...and that's OK because I'm not a huge fan of overly unreliable narrators and points of view in thrillers. It definitely has Hitchcockian vibes but ...more
