I love this series. Eleven year old Flavia de Luce is a thoroughly likable protagonist who has a genius for chemistry but is also a realistic child, given to misunderstandings and confusion over the adult world. I have to admit that the plotting is a bit sloppy in places. Many red herrings are never sorted out and the motivations of many characters are very thinly painted.
