4.5 stars. This is a really unique, honest and powerful memoir written in an experimental style. This story can draw in the reader with intense language and imagery and is considered within the category of indigenous Native American/American Indian writing. I love the poetry of the piece, as well as the non-linear storytelling which feels true to how memory works. I found this a struggle and finished it only in order to fulfill my last outstanding Reading Women Challenge 2019 rubric: Book by an indigenous author. And for challenging me to open my mind to something new, I give this two stars.
