What Members Thought
This was a disappointing slog of a read for me. This multigenerational family drama mixed with some suspense held some promise, but the dialogue (which I'm guessing was the author's deliberate decision to directly translate Dutch and Chinese vernacular into English) was so distracting and painfully awkward. For instance, a delicious pasta dish tasted like "an angel peeing on your tongue" etc etc. Did not live up to the hype for me.

A sad story told through the voices of four different family members. Set in Queens and in Holland. The descriptions of Holland, and the Dutch customs and scenery were very interesting. Also interesting comments on being an immigrant in a country with very few non native people. Well written but i think it would appeal more to a younger demographic.
