I read this book to understand why 45 has had such a groundswell of support - and continues to have loyal support despite all the allegations, and in my mind, gross misconduct on several levels. Red states have the highest levels of pollution yet residents, for the most part, rail against federal government regulation. The conservatives interviewed in the book are from Louisiana, the 2nd to bottom in poverty and well being. This is the paradox. Why do they vote what seems to be against their bes ...more

Great book. Explores reasons why Louisiana is a red state being that it is one of the poorest states and so may people's livelihoods have been destroyed by industrial pollution. ...more
