This is a wonderful story. I haven't read many of LaVyrle Spencer's books, but I will definitely be reading more of them after this one. The story takes place in an early Kansas town, where the cowboys and cattle drives that come through once a year on their way to railheads. Agatha Downing is the female protagonist, a woman who runs a millinery shop in the town and who is barely making her living there.
