I enjoyed this book. Now, the writing was a little uneven, the suspected motives were rushed into and the expository bits dragged on a little too much at the beginning, but the characters were enjoyable. Wegner managed to avoid the over-the-top small town folks that populate so many similar books. Quirks were tempered and seemed natural. I could imagine meeting almost all the characters in real life. This is a promising start to a new mystery series. The main character has come into possession of a well-established diner in upper New York state, when someone poisons the health inspector right under her nose in the diner's kitchen. Enemies of her diner and the very valuable property it sits on surround her and she must decide who to trust while she tries to solve the murder. It helps that there is also a sexy new deputy sheriff in the mix.
