A neighbor disappears. Two young girls set out to find the missing woman by seeking out God.

It's a mystery. It's a coming-of-age novel. It's historical fiction. It's philosophical. It's a bit of a romp, even:


I was just about to turn away when I saw it.

"Look, Tilly." I tapped on the glass.

There was a cross. A large brass crucifix, which stood on a shelf over the fireplace....

"I was right all along." I stared at the cross. "We were just searching in the wrong houses."

An interesting story, somewhat reminiscent of "The Girl on the Train" but told through the eyes of a young girl and her friend, as well as through the eyes of some of the residents of her neighborhood, where a neighbor lady has mysteriously vanished, and a mysterious fire had occurred earlier. The reader is kept guessing throughout the story about what happened in both those situations. ...more
