I will not reveal anything in saying that Brown is no Shakespeare but God (ha ha ) can he write page turner books. This one is not his best. Good for humanity that Langdon is there.

One of the things that have left me uncomfortable is that even though the book is trying to tell us that science and technology will be our new religion, that science is a must, that technology is good ... in the end, the machine is still the evil character in the book. Even with good intentions, Winston still kills

3.5 stars!

At least this is better than Inferno or Lost Symbol XD

But somehow, Dan Brown's style feels very obsolete to me. I can guess where he's going, and even that he tried bit harder here to create a more "unpredictable" ending and twists, for me the "spark" is already gone. Perhaps this is time for Brown to leave his comfort zone, (and Langdon), create a new heroine (female?) and stop playing about religion vs science a little bit. Bring some fresh air by coming up with a more original theme

My new favorite Robert Langdon adventure. Dan Brown's extensive research combined with his brilliant writing created a 5 start read for Origin. I learned so much about architecture and art in Spain while enjoying a plot that never slowed. I thought that a tease at the beginning of the book was going to ruin the pace and disappoint the reader, yearning for more information almost disclosed at the very start. That was not the case, as the plot moved, twisted and broke off in many interesting direc ...more

Decent read until the end. Very boring ending. Not much symbolism.

Too much of the book is devoted to the set-up. Interesting premise, but not very suspenseful and easy to figure out early on. Female character isn't very well developed and hollow. ...more

4-1/2 🌟. haven’t read a Dan Brown novel in quite a few years and really enjoyed this one. I found the historical and current theories of science juxtaposed with religious theories to be so interesting, along with the setting and history of Barcelona (and a few other cities in Spain). I felt like a voyeur in some ways and went along for an exciting and very fast paced ride. My only negative is that the ending was drawn out and a little flat for me, although I appreciated how it ended. I read it i ...more

A tad long, it took 150 pages before the main inciting incident started. I also figured out who's responsible. That said, I learned to appreciate modern art, technology and science. I liked that the places were real so I could definitely look them up, with same delight in discovery when I read Da Vinci Code. For me, this was better than Inferno. ...more
