This started out as a five star read. She described the Irish countryside so beautifully and I loved the paranormal aspect. The two main characters had an interesting "chemistry" and it was developing really well. The author's voice is unique and I was amazed this was her first book.

Once it became a full-on murder mystery, however, it lost me. The magic seemed forced, there was too much gore and/or violence, a love story woven in seemed forced too, and it devolved from there. I think it was try ...more

Very Irish and very quirky characters abound. Drama, humor, mystery, supernatural happenings, this novel has it all.

In 1976 a young man returns to the small Irish town where he was born to find out what happened to his mother, who disappeared when he was a baby, Sounds good, I'm on board. This dark mystery is set in a small village in Ireland in contemporary times but switches back and forth to an earlier time period to uncover a really horrendous whodunnit.
