These short stories transported me to Greece during their economic crisis. The translation seems excellent to me, because the stories have a beautiful flow to them. I felt a sense of desperation as I read it, as the protagonists seemed to have so few options to make it. I learned a few things about Greek history including the violent suppression of student strikes in the early 1970s and the also violent movement that took their name- November 17- from the incident.
