I really enjoyed the first half of the book and then it fell kind of flat. The first half Kiya goes from being a wealthy Egyptian to a slave. She has to serve others and loses her freedom. The plagues of Egypt begin happening and it’s so well written. Kiya makes friends with a Hebrew slave who has different explanations for the plagues. Kiya really likes her friend, but doesn’t really understand her. After they leave Egypt, it starts to drag. There is some drama, but the newer characters aren’t
