A Japanese novel about individuality and being who you are -- intriguing, especially knowing the culture.
Well, this was an amazing read. I zoomed through it and it's not very long. It's one of the strangest novels I've read; strikes a real new note, both re style and content. At the same time, it has novelistic attention to realist detail. The main character is truly eccentric -- not just Hollywood fake-quirky or manic pixie. It's not spelled out if she has some sort of mental health issue (it's hinted at) but her character arc is subtle and lovely. I had flash-backs to when I was working at a loca
