Heartbreaking stories about the women who painted the glow in the dark watch dials in the early to mid 20th century, and the very irresponsible employers who used them and let them suffer the consequences. The book is full of personal and historical details, photos and documentation. It is completely heart-wrenching.
Read on Kindle, so not sure if there were pictures, but well told journey of the Women from that time and their contributions to science via giving of their life and health. I am now interested in visiting one of the sites, as they mentioned clean-up was still going on as of 2015.
An eloquent, moving recollection of the lives of young women who pioneered the implementation of industrial hygiene for future generations. A must-read, this book should be required in schools.
