This was so slow, I had a hard time staying engaged. A murder mystery set in 1920s Bombay, with a female attorney, is a great hook, but the murder takes a long time to happen (and that makes me feel bloodthirsty, that I was looking for the murder - it's not that I wanted murder specifically, I just wanted SOMETHING to happen), and the frequent flashbacks to Perveen's past were tedious and annoying and made this feel like a fluffy romance instead of a murder mystery.
