What Members Thought
All the highbrow critics looooove this book. That should have warned me off from the beginning. Anyway, the story begins with an unnamed young woman narrator and her father living in a commune on an unnamed island where they are apparently only grudgingly accepted. The book then flashed back to how they ended up on the island. The narrator's father and mother immigrate to the Boston from Ethiopia.
