The first and third sections were the strongest. The use of second person, as well as the insertion of a minor character named "Tayari Jones" felt it could have used some editing in the second section to make it work. The story was compelling all the way through though.

Great book - three sections, three different child narrators in the same classroom during the Atlanta (Black) Child Murders 1979-1981, three different families & socio-economic classes & understandings of the situation and of contemporary friendships and interactions. Read it super fast - haven't done that in years but it drew me in and kept me hooked. Highly recommend for mature readers - not unlike a more contemporary "To Kill A Mockingbird," tells a real/realistic events from a child's POV fo
