This was one of the most engaging thrillers I’ve read in a while. It read more like a family drama with crime and law sprinkled in than it did a “whodunit” or psychological thriller. Yes, there are a couple of “reveals” towards the end that some might find shocking or unexpected, but the force of this novel is how Slaughter writes with such deft about the two daughters and their father.
