I'm a huge fan of Lippman's, and this one stands out for how she explores how the decision not to speak of something painful, even as it seems the easiest course, can ultimately only compound the injury when the truth finally comes to light. Lippman's far more than a "mere" genre stylist - she's putting out some of the most emotionally rich and nuanced fiction that you can get your hands on.

Though the relationships keep shifting with the passing years, the characters' personalities in this book really stay remarkably consistent.
