What Members Thought
I loved this high fantasy novel. Great world building and great characters. The first in a series, Tomi Adeyemi wrote it during a time when she kept turning on the news and seeing unarmed black men and women killed by police. This book definitely reflects reality but it also builds up a community and creates a place full of the mysteries of magic, the magic every human holds within themselves.
Outstanding! It has been awhile since I’ve read YA Fantasy but I loved this! Fast paced, thoughtful and exciting, I fell hard for some of these characters and loved to hate some too. If this has been on your TBR, move it up!
