Eleven people are on a private jet flying from Martha's Vineyard to New York when the plane crashes. A painter, Scott Burroughs, and a four year old boy, JJ, are the only survivors after Scott conducts an epic swim to get them to safety. The book alternates between Scott's life in the aftermath of the crash and the lives of the victims before the crash. The book has a well deserved condemnation of the current 24 hour tv news cycle. The third quarter of the book dragged a little bit for me...but overall I enjoyed the hero of the book, and would like an epilogue. What happens to Scott after the doors shut? I hope it was something good, I think he is deserving of something good.

Enjoyable read but definitely a bit far fetched in its premise. Did cause reflection on the 24/7 news cycle and the need to get a story at all cost. Overall a good but not great book

Another good summer read. A private plane crash and then the backstory of all the passengers. I was disappointed in the author's reason for the crash, but I looked forward to each chapter. Would make a good movie. ...more
