This was a very interesting book documenting the black women who worked as mathematicians for the US government in the aeronautics and space program. I had watched the movie prior to reading. The movie was excellent and I assumed the book would be similar, but the book has a broader time period and focus. It goes into more background about segregation and how it changed over time and in different states. I thought it was a great read and very informative.

Great story! While I loved the movie, the Book helped me to learn more about these amazing women and put their accomplishments more fully into context. Highly recommend!

I read this to my 13-year old. We enjoyed it very much, but, in retrospect, might have enjoyed the adult edition better. The story felt a little choppy in parts and lacked the depth we would have enjoyed. This is a great option for the 8- to 12-year old crowd. We would definitely recommend it!
