It is the format, the book-within-a-book, the mystery-within-a-mystery, as well as the clever way the characters in the book-within-a-book parallel the characters in the book itself, that drew me to reading this book. All the characters are compelling, and both stories contain mystery and love and drama and murder and humor.
This is definitely a mystery for puzzle lovers. There are two stories occurring simultaneously in the book, a mystery-within-another-mystery sort of thing, and it is hard to say which is the main one. There is an author who is finishing his series of mysteries and who is told that he has very little time to live before his medical condition takes his life.
