Don't let the fact that this novel is centered around a backwater Swedish youth hockey club turn you away. It is about so much more...sports "culture", class, racism, misogyny, family, love and loss. The heartbreak, joy, and at times sheer terror, of being a parent.
Finished in the wee hours last night and woke up thinking about the characters, so many who you come to truly care about.

This book, wow. I have read several of Backman's other books and this one just threw for a loop. It was a tough but wonderfully knit story of small town. People coming together and breaking apart. I felt that he foreshadowed things in a way that you knew something was coming, but not what, and it was twisty, I didn't know how things were going to go. The characters were so likable, well, some of them, others so obviously not. I would be happy to have Benji or Amat as my own son. I wanted to hug
