Tough to review this without comparing it to Beartown which was a perfect 5 star book for me. I feel bad saying it did not live up to the first book - because maybe some of that is just that the style is too familiar, and the situations seemed repetitive. The first third of the book really just recaps the previous novel. The some really bad things happen to people I already cared for. Disappointing. Didn't like this nearly as much as other books by this author. Felt choppy, like too much time was spent dishing out Life Lessons, not enough time developing the story and characters. Maybe I was less interested in the story because I'm not a big hockey fan? Pushed myself to finish it, was glad I did, but my overall reaction was still "Meh."
