Simt că nu am citit o carte, ci mai mult o schiță a unei cărți. Slab dezvoltată, cu elemente care nu se leagă suficient între ele și fără un conflict anume. Personajele nu sunt conturate atât cât trebuie. Nu mi-a stârnit interesul suficient și sunt dezamăgita de tot ce am citit. Îmi pare rău că încep din ianuarie cu astfel de dezamăgiri. Este păcat de carte, deoarece promitea foarte mult.

This book was ... interesting. The opening thirty pages switch POVs back and forth between a fox and a hunter. It was a little jarring at first, I won't mind admitting, and just when I got into that swing, it switched to a more traditional narrative. I was actually a little disappointed when it did so, if truth be told. But once I got over that disappointment, I really enjoyed the glimpse into Icelandic life in the 1880s. Disappointing. The writing style was really poetic, but there wasn't much plot. I was thinking it would be like a kind of fairy tale, but that was false advertising. There were two parallel stories, one of a man hunting a fox and getting trapped in an avalanche, and the other of a woman with Down syndrome who was sold into slavery as a child. The description is more exciting than the whole book, and the author sloppily ties the two stories together in the last chapter.
