What Members Thought

This one rather uncomfortably straddles the line between an ordinary thriller and something more literary, and Boyd never quite gets the balance right between the two. Ultimately, his decision to play out his theory of urban anonymity by making the main character a cipher doesn't succeed for me - the story ends up becoming a lot of talk with no substantive reason to care. It has some good moments, but the idea could have been executed with more flair.
