This was an enjoyable read and well written. I love how it switched back and forth, from present to each characters past. It's actually a pretty recent book (2017) - so discusses Trumps wall to keep people out. The story reveals what's on the other side of the wall. What people are leaving from because they're forced to, what they'd rather have that we take for granted, and how difficult the whole process is.

I liked it, the historical background was very well researched and ties into the lives of the characters. It shows first hand accounts of how society’s problems specifically affect individuals. The characters and their problems seem very realistic. It was exasperating at times since some characters took actions that frustrated me, which I would not take... will not go into details so as to avoid spoilers. Overall, a good ending.
