I'd read and loved Returning to Earth. This is an earlier book that focuses on the same family, different character focus. earlier events. Like all JH books, it's erudite, humane and has wonderful descriptions of natural landscapes. Unfortunately it is also quite repetitive. While the book spans ~30 years, the narrator doesn't seem to mature or change at all. Visiting Marquette MI where JIm Harrison was from. I first heard of him at a celebration of the work of John Graves in Dallas, TX.
I am sorry I hadn’t read his work when I met him as now he is dead.
