What Members Thought
Less a thriller and more a detailed study of inter-departmental intrigue within the Japanese police, the novel sets up two interesting mysteries - the disappearance of a young girl and the kidnapping and murder of another - that are never resolved in satisfying fashion. There's a late twist (I won't spoil here) that borders on the ludicrous but, other than that, a fairly ponderous read.
