This is one of those audiobooks I wanted not to end, because I loved listening to it so much. The characters became real and important to me, and I liked the readers' voices. The characters had rich backstories. It was beautiful and intriguing to see how their lives were interwoven and dependent on one another.

This is not a book that you 'like' in terms of enjoying. It is, however, a powerful story that needs to be told. It is the story of a family of children who are stolen by the Memphis Tennessee Children's Home, and along with thousands of others, are abused, mistreated, sometimes killed, and sometimes sold into adoption. "Before We Were Yours" is a history fiction piece of work about the Memphis Tennessee Children's Home and of Georgia Tann's illegal adoption agency. Without this book, I don't think I would have ever known about this true life story. So again, I've had my eyes open. Thank you reading.
