I felt like the epilogue was not needed and liked the book up until that point--if the publishers or his wife or his family felt that was necessary, wish it could have been briefer. It is okay that the book was "unfinished" when the author passed on--life just isn't all neatly wrapped up, but that is the feeling of desire (and almost desperation) that seems to be conveyed in the epilogue. I can see why this book has touched many people, but I was not a huge fan.
My first impression of the author as he introduced the reasoning behind his life's work was, "this guy seems like a pretentious ass." He's not, he just had a boundless curiosity regarding existential crisis questions. Because I don't struggle with the same questions he did, the profundity of this read was lost on me.
With that being said, he did have some relatable insights and conclusions regarding life's biggest question ...more
